How do I verify Google Search Console with an HTML tag?
Verification
- In Search Console, after adding your URL prefix property, choose "HTML tag" as the verification method
- Copy the entire
<meta name="google-site-verification" content="...">tag - Paste it into the
<head>section of your homepage's HTML, before the closing</head>tag - Publish the change, then click Verify in Search Console
Important: Do not remove the meta tag after verification. If Google can no longer find it, your property will become unverified.
